In the 1970s, Jacques Patenaude dreams of pursuing martial arts, but is unable to leave his life as a gang biker and barn brawler in small town Canada. Then he falls in love with a young spitfire named Linda who gives him the courage to follow his dreams. Together they escape to the big city where Jacques becomes involved in the violent world of underground fighting to support his family and pay for advanced martial arts training. Overcoming adversity, Jacques rises through the ranks and emerges victorious, eventually opening his own kung-fu school that later becomes the headquarters of the largest martial arts franchise in the country.

Based on the extraordinary rags-to-riches story of Jacques Patenaude, Way of Survival traces the journey of a dreamer who transcends the violent world of underground fighting to find happiness and success.
